Ondernemingsraad (OR) verkiezingen VUmc

Fuel your future! – PCDI Postdoc Retreat – life sciences

Regardless of how talented or passionate you are about science, positions in academia are scarce and only 1 out of 10 PhDs will eventually make it to a principle investigator. The other 90% will have to follow another career path. It is therefore crucial that you -as an early career researcher- know how to be well prepared for the future. What qualifies you as a person? How to exploit your talents in- and outside academia? What jobs fit you? What does society expect from you as a scientist? The purpose of the PCDI Postdoc Retreat is to help you find an answer in order to “Fuel your future” and take charge of your career!

                                                       PCDI

Three day conference

Find out with 80 – 100 fellow scientists at this lively 3-day conference what is important to you when it comes to professional development. Identify your hidden skills and improve your transferable skills at the interactive training workshops. Attend inspiring lectures by successful PhDs sharing their wisdom. Discuss with key players in Science at our forum to develop a vision on your position as a young scientist in society. Network with our invited PhDs –including former participants- to discover new exciting futures in- and outside academia.

New year, new chairwoman, new PR representative, new website!

Dear ProVU members,

Happy new year everybody! We’re celebrating the new year with a new chairwoman, Nienke Schutte, a new PR representative in the ProVU board, Tom van den Berg, and we’ve also created a whole new website.

You will receive an invitation soon for some drinks where you can meet the new board members.

I’ve enjoyed the past year very much as ProVU chair, but the time has come to start shifting my priorities to some good-old thesis writing (oh joy!).

Nienke, Tom, the best of luck, and let’s make 2013 a great ProVU year!

All the best,

Willem
