ProVU is the organization that represents all PhD-candidates and Postdocs of the VU University (VU) and the VU University Medical Center (VUmc). Our goal is to advocate the interest and rights of all PhD’s by representation in the Works Council of the VU and attendance to the general members meeting (GMM) of Promovendi Netwerk Nederland (PNN). In addition we would like to create a platform for PhD candidates and Postdocs to get in touch with each other and stay informed about important activities at the VU. For upcoming activities and events please click here.
NEW: PhD Survey
As part of a national initiative, the VU has employed a survey for PhD students with the aim of gaining better insight into the progress of PhD trajectories. Information gathered through this survey will also help the VU to get a better grasp of the current status of PhD education, supervision, and research in the different faculties. If you did not (yet) receive an email and are currently a PhD candidate at the VU, we kindly invite you to fill in the survey by following this link: Link to PhD survey
Call for Faculty Representatives
ProVU is currently setting up a structure to ensure each faculty is represented by at least one PhD candidate. The faculty representatives will come together in bi-monthly meetings to discuss developments concerning PhD education and research. If you are interested in representing your faculty please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
On a slightly similar note, the Beta faculties (FEW-FALW) are looking for PhD and/or Postdoc to take seat in the faculty employee council (onderdeelcomissie). Preferentially for multiple years, but the council is relatively flexible for members with a temporary contract. If you are interested or have any questions please send an email to Tom van den Berg (who is currently the PhD representative in the faculty council) at email@example.com. He will be happy to answer any questions.
